Let's talk about laundry

How often do you do it?  One sister-in-law, who has 4 children, does all of hers on Mondays.  I've tried, but the longest I've been able to make it is 4 days, and in the summer, the towels......Forget it!  I do laundry, a load or two, everyday.  I hate it, but I haven't been able to come up with anything that works better for me.

SO....How often do you do laundry?
Do your kids do their own laundry?
How about your husband?
If you do all of yours on one day, what's your stockpile like?  I mean how many towels does a person have to have to last 7 days?
Oh, and what's your favorite detergent/fabric softener combination?  My laundry never seems to smell as fresh as other people's.  Is that just a grass is greener thing or is there a magic scent recipe?

Tell me everything.  I've always wanted to be an expert laundress.

I do laundry all the time! Or so it seems. I probably wash three days a week or so... just whenever I feel it piling up. I don't really have a laundry day. That's not a bad idea though. Maybe I should try it!

I never think my clothes smell good unless I use dryer sheets. Scented dryer sheets at that.

While I'm really good at the washing, it's the folding that trips me up. I normally wind up with piles and piles of unfolded laundry. It's so lovely seeing my family get dressed out of a massive pile of laundry in the corner by the kitchen every morning. Nothing makes me feel more efficient. :)

I'm not sure when we're ever not doing laundry. And I agree with MommyJ. It's the folding where we are lacking. I'll let you in on a dirty little secret... the pack n' play that we put in our bedroom when the twins were born... well, it's now the worlds largest laundry basket and the primary destination for anything coming out of our dryer.

But I will share one very useful secret for cleaning computer monitors: cleaner

i always feel ike my laundry never smells as good as anyone elses. i am going iwth the theory that you become accustomed to your own scent and don't notice it the way you do with others. i dolaundry every 3-4 days and i feel like i too am lacking more in the folding department than anywhere else. i want to know how often does everyone wash their bedsheets? and also because i work in a hospital i wash my work clothes seperate from home clothes, does anyone else do that?

I wash clothes on Monday, sheets and towels on Tuesday. The pile up isn't too bad--usually 5-6 loads on Mondays, 3-4 on Tuesday, but then I'm done for the rest of the week! (Barring a sick child or wet bed incident.) Towels aren't an issue for us. Everyone has their own towel they use all week. Finding a system that worked (it was my mom's, but her's had more days since she had 7 kids!) made laundry less of a pain for me. Find something that makes it more manageable for you.

My favorite laundry combo for cleanliness & smell is Tide detergent & Bounce sheets in the dryer. Tide costs more, but it's worth it. It works great--even a recent Consumer Reports article agreed!

Laundry? What is this you speak of??? lol! I hate laundry and do it once or week... or worse... wait longer. I know I know... don't hate me!

Blessedly, I now have to do laundry only one day a week! And since Jim changes sheets and towels (and washes them, too!), I'm only responsible for my own stuff!

Getting old and having your children move out has lots of advantages!

But my kids did get taught washer and dryer basics sometime before their teen years. It then became *their* problem if they had no clean uniforms for school. And, no, that wasn't a reason to stay home.

I was a lazy and mean mommy. But it got them out of the house...
